A working meeting on distance education at Uman National University of Horticulture was recently held under the chairmanship of the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, Doctor of Economics, Professor Mykhailo MALYOVANYI. The meeting’s agenda encompassed pivotal matters pertaining to the prospective advancement of distance education at the university. Of particular note was the initiation of a pilot program for a Master’s degree program, “Economics of Social Security,” which is designed for distance learning. The outcomes of the 2024 admissions campaign, which initiated the implementation of this pioneering educational program, were presented and analyzed.
The technical aspects pertaining to the functionality of the distance education laboratory, which was furnished with the most recent equipment to guarantee superior-quality online learning, were likewise addressed. Significant emphasis was placed on the content and active utilization of electronic platforms for distance education, such as Moodle, to guarantee effective access to educational materials for students.
One of the pivotal topics was the debate surrounding the establishment of a system for monitoring and evaluating the quality of distance learning. Preparations have commenced for a stakeholder survey with the objective of enhancing the quality of educational services. Proposals were put forth to facilitate the collection of feedback from students, educators, and employers to assess the efficacy of training programs and their alignment with the labor market. The meeting concluded with a discussion of the strategy for the further advancement of distance education at the university.
