DEFEP project participants took part in the conference on internationalization of higher education in Ukraine

The team of implementers of the CBHE Erasmus+ KA 2 DEFEP project “Distance Education of the Future: EU Best Practices in Response to the Demands of Modern Higher Education Students and Labor Market Representatives” from Uman National University of Horticulture took part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Internationalization of Higher Education in Ukraine in Global Progress” from June 20 to 23, 2024.

The event was organized by the Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University and the NGO “Innovative University”, and Uman National University of Horticulture was among the partners of the conference. The event discussed topical issues of higher education development, including academic integrity, international trends in higher education transformation, the EU and Eastern Partnership distance education ecosystem, and best practices of the EU and partners in establishing a comprehensive mentoring and tutoring system in higher education institutions.

Participants from Uman University presented the results of their research and projects, in particular in the areas of distance education and professional training of students. The conference format allowed participants from different countries to interact both offline and online via Zoom, which facilitated the exchange of experience and practices of learning and cooperation.

This conference has once again shown that our scientists are recognized internationally, and Uman National University of Horticulture continues to do important work in the development of educational and scientific projects.

UNUS expands distance education opportunities with a master’s program in social security economics

Within the framework of the international Erasmus+ KA2 – DEFEP project “Distance Education of the Future: EU best practices in response to the needs of modern higher education and labor market students”, Uman National University of Horticulture (UNUH) is launching a distance learning program in Social Security Economics at the second (master’s) level of higher education.

Recently, a presentation of this educational program took place, which attracted the attention of applicants studying at the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education.

Mykhailo Malyovanyi, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, DEFEP Project Coordinator, emphasized the importance of adapting Uman National University of Horticulture to the modern challenges of the educational process and the benefits of distance learning. According to him, the distance format allows for a flexible approach to the educational process and ensures high quality education.

Inna CHERNEGA, PhD in Economics, Professor, spoke in detail about the educational program, its structure, core disciplines and requirements for masters. She emphasized the modern approach to the study of social security economics, which includes the analysis of modern models and practices, in particular in the context of market changes and social policy.

“This master’s program is a unique opportunity for students to gain a deeper understanding of the dynamics and challenges in the field of social security. It opens up broad prospects for career growth in the field of social economics,” noted Inna Ivanivna. UNUS continues to set ambitious goals in the development of educational programs, providing students with all the necessary resources and knowledge for successful professional activities.

Updating the technical base of UNUS with the support of the international project Erasmus+ + KA2 – DEFEP

Uman National University of Horticulture continues to implement educational innovations within the framework of the international Erasmus+ KA2 – DEFEP project “Distance Education of the Future: EU Best Practices in Response to the Demands of Modern Higher Education and Labor Market Students”. Thanks to the grant funds, the university has implemented an initiative to purchase the latest computer equipment, which will form the basis for the creation of an experimental laboratory for distance education.

The creation of such a laboratory is an important step towards integration with European educational standards, which will allow our students to be competitive at the international level. The Erasmus+ project opens up new opportunities for the development of the university’s educational infrastructure, emphasizing our commitment to innovation and continuous improvement of the learning environment for our students.

UKRAINIAN NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF HORTICULTURE IS ACTIVELY IMPLEMENTING THE DEFEP PROJECT WITHIN THE ERASMUS+ PROGRAM

Uman National University of Horticulture continues to implement the ambitious DEFEP project “Distance Education for the Future: EU Best Practices in Response to the Demands of Higher Education and Labor Market Students”. This project, which is being implemented with the support of the Erasmus+ KA2 program, aims to improve distance learning and increase its effectiveness in accordance with the requirements of the modern educational and labor space.

At the last meeting of the University’s Academic Council, two important documents were approved that will form the basis for the further development of distance learning: Regulations on the Ethics of Communication in Distance Learning and Regulations on Distance Learning Courses and their Certification. Thanks to these regulations, the university is making efforts to ensure high standards of education and responsibility in the educational process.

Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Mykhailo Malyovanyi, who presented the main components of these documents, emphasized the importance of such steps: “Thanks to these provisions, we not only improve the quality of distance learning, but also create a solid foundation for ethical and productive communication between students and teachers, which is key to successful education in the 21st century.”
